Things to see and do

Make the most of your trip! Here are our top ideas for things to do while you’re in Barcelona. And remember, Google Translate can be really helpful during your stay, but be sure to select Catalan, NOT Spanish, for the language!

Famous Cathedral

La Sagrada Familia
Top recommendation! La Sagrada Familia has been under construction for 135 years, and scheduled for completion in 2026. A fantastical mixture of Gothic and Art Nouveau styles by famed Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi, it must be seen to be believed. Lines can be long, so best to purchase tickets in advance. Tickets range from €20-38, depending on tour/guide options.

Museums

Museu Nacional D’Art de Catalunya
This museum is considered a national treasure, with Baroque and Renaissance masterpieces, and a world-class collection of pre-Gothic religious art. Tickets are €12 and can be purchased by clicking the link above.
Museu Picasso
Picasso chose Barcelona for his namesake museum, which houses over 4,000 original works from his earliest pieces all the way to the Blue Period. Tickets start at €12 purchased online, and entry times are scheduled when you purchase the tickets, so time your visit accordingly and don’t arrive late!

Parks and Beaches

Park Güell
Originally a large estate, this beautiful public park was laid out by Gaudi, and is named a UNESCO World Heritage site. Park entry is €10, and includes shuttle transportation from the nearest metro station to the park. Buying tickets in advance is advisable.
Chill in Parc de la Ciutadella
This public park is a green oasis in the midst of the city, complete with beautiful fountain, a zoo, the Catalan Parliament, and it’s a great place to picnic or go for a long walk.
Lounge on the Beach at La Barceloneta
This is a favorite beach with a lively vibe – you’ll see local vendors, music, and maybe even some kite flying!

Shopping

Las Ramblas
Wander down this beautiful, wide boulevard for shopping, including many well-known international luxury brands, people-watching, or catching a street performance Watch out for pickpockets, though!
Shop at Barri Gotic
Antique stores, young fashion designers, and one-of-a-kind shopping experiences.

Markets

Taste everything at La Boqueria
Barcelona’s largest market. Experience the region’s finest cheeses, charcuterie, fresh seafood, produce, and more.
Eat everything at Mercat de Santa Caterina
This market is less crowded and touristy than La Boqueria, with more of a neighborhood market feel.
